Look at what 6' of barbed wire and 6' of copper wire can make. You can usually find used barbed wire for free and strip some left over electrical wire for the copper.
On a recent daytrip to Jerome, we saw these amazing barbed wire crosses! Wow, they are beautiful! We were so impressed, we have now made 30 of them for people on our Christmas list!
Ross was able to find a pile of old barbed wire on the side of the road that was cut up into piece - so we recycled! Ross also had a spool of electrical wire that he stripped to use the copper to tie the ends. So the cross was FREE!!
Material: 6’ of copper wire; 6’ barbed wire
We are guessing they would cost around $3 each if you purchased the materials. Although, don’t purchase until you check your garage. We had the electrical wire in our garage since 1994. After we started keeping our eyes open for barbed wire, we saw piles every where! We were able to clean up the earth and make gifts at the same time!
The strands are 12” and 9” long. The upright and cross are made up of 3 strands of barbed wire and wrapped in copper. Questions - email
